Profile
Junko Yamaguchi
Born in Muroran, Hokkaido, where many local folk songs have been cultivated.
As a child, she became familiar with these folk songs under the influence of her father.
She graduated from Kunitachi College of Music, Tokyo.
After graduating, she worked as a DJ for FM music programs at NHK Muroran Broadcasting Station.
From 1993 to 1995, while in Ithaca, New York, she took vocal lessons at the Cornell University School of Music.
After returning to Japan, she continues to work as a piano teacher, chorus conductor, and as a singer. She is active mainly in jazz field.
With her experience and excellent vocal technique, she has created her unique jazz vocal world where vocalist is not an independent singer but has become one of the music instruments, and jazzed with other members as a united band.
